General information

Let's party in Valhalla!

What's up?

The Norwegian Brothers have acquired a compound, with renovated military-style barracks, where we will be hosting the party and all of it's associated events. We are also using this compound as a staging area for off-site events. Such as the boat ride and fishing trip, motorcycle trips and much more.

We will host the PCR Regional Meeting and the 20th anniversary for Norway at the compound.

Tickets are for the compound access from Wednesday to Sunday with accommodations. The ticket cost also pays for the events such as bands and entertainment.

Airplane tickets needs to be bought separately! See more info under travel information.

Remember the the recommended airport closest to the event is Kjevik, Kristiansand.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in general expensive and hard to come by in Arendal in June, due to the summer season.  For this event Chapter Delta has booked Hove Gaard, situated on the island Tromøy, 20 minutes’ drive outside the city of Arendal.  We urge all Brothers to book accommodations within the camp/compound for great brotherhood and to live together for a few days as one unit, as we used to during service.  The success of the event depends on this.

Hove Gaard is dated back to year 1725. The renovated, military-style barracks will have 2-man and 4-man rooms available, which you will be able to book through this website. You will also be able to let us know, through the website or our booking email (vnvlvmcnorway@gmail.com), who you want to room with. This way you and your OL can request to share a room with another Brother and his OL. All the beds are single beds and or bunk beds.

The compound includes sleeping quarters, meeting room and great outdoor area for activities close by the sea. The camp area will be enclosed and guarded.

There are a number of houses accommodating 25-35 people each. Each room is a 4 bedroom (bunk beds), linen included.

Shared bathroom, toilet and kitchen facilities in each house.

A very few number of single rooms are also available. Due to limited numbers of rooms these will only be available on special requests for Brothers with special health issues. This barrack is situated near by, but outside the camp area. For special requests, please email vnvlvmcnorway@gmail.com.

Food and Drinks

There will be plenty of food and drinks, including BBQ every night.

Entertainment

There will be live entertainment and music!

Tent camping

For those who prefer sleeping in tents there's a big field within the enclosed area. Shared bathrooms and toilet facilities close by.

Breakfast will be included in you ticket and is served every morning from a designated area.

Tickets and Payment

The trip must be paid in full at time of booking and must be paid with card. Payments must be made with a credit card when booking! Tickets sold are per person and not per room.

There's 3 types of tickets available for the event.

1) One bed in a 2-man room = $450
2) One bed in a 4-man room = $300
3) One spot at the tent camp = $200

The ticket you choose will include complete access to the compound from Wednesday 08th of June to Sunday 12th of June. So if you and your OL are only staying for 2 nights, it'll still be the same price as announced and you will have access to the area even though you don’t use it. You cannot sell this access if you don’t use it.

Tickets 1 and 2 includes:

1 x Single bed for four nights

4 x Breakfast

1 x Lining

2x Towels

1x Room cleaning on Sunday

The ticket cost also pays for the events such as bands and entertainment.

Ticket example 1: John and Jane want to have their own room. The easiest way is buy 2 tickets of one bed in a 2-man room. That way you got your own room.

Ticket example 2: Rick and Morty gets along with Dave and Bob so thay each buy one bed in a 4-man room. Then thay email vnvlvmcnorway@gmail.com and tell us thay all want to room together.

Payment

All travels booked online must be paid immediately at the time of booking.

The ticket is due in full by credit/debit card when booking. We use Stripe for payments to this event. Stripe is a safe way to transfer money internationally. Stripe is integrated in the booking page.

Travel information

Be smart when you book your airline tickets! Feel free to use your recommendations.

VNVLVMC Norway celebrates our 20 years anniversary, and the PCR Regional meeting at Tromøy island outside Arendal. The arrangement is hosted by Chapter Delta, the oldest chapter in Norway.

Tromøy is located just offshore of the city of Arendal, south Norway, in one of many beautiful ocean sides you will be able to see during your stay, there's also alot of local Viking history.

For brothers arriving directly by airplane, from the US, Italy, Germany or elsewhere, the best way inbound is through Amsterdam or Copenhagen. This is due to direct flights to Kristiansand airport, Kjevik. This is also the closest closest international airport and the one we recommend.

From Kjevik there is about 80km (50miles) transportation to the compound area, Valhalla.

If anyone for some reason thinks about landing at Oslo airport Gardermoen, the distance is 300km (190miles) to the compound. From Bergen Airport Flesland the distance is 470km (300miles) from Bergen to the compound.

We need your arrival input, there will be allocated transportation only from Kjevik Airport, by cars, minibus. Transportation fee will be 10 USD/person.

As soon as you have your flight information send it to vnvlvmcnorway@gmail.com

Booking your flight

You can use pages like momondo.com, flightscanner.com or direct on the airline companies webpage:

https://www.norwegian.com/us/

https://www.sas.no/

https://www.klm.com/

You will normally find the cheapest tickets when flying in and out on a tuesday or a wednesday.

Transportation from the airport

There's shuttle transportation from Kristiansand, Kjevik to the Compound.

The shuttle transportation to and from the compound will go as long as visitors continues to fly in and out. For each trips to or from the compound is a ticket of $10 to help with gas and rental expenses. You need to inform us if you travel details as soon as possible to vnvlvmcnorway@gmail.com

Norwegian law

Please pay attention to the guidelines given by the SA in command

GENERAL

Like the other Scandinavian countries, Norway is a liberal socialist democracy. We have quite a few strict laws, but not significant different from what you are used to. Norway is known to be one of the safest countries in the world. Crime rates are extremely low even in major cities.

The taxes are high, and so are the fines. If you ride in 70 km/h on a road with 50km/h speed limit, the ticket will be 5850 Norwegian kroner, or almost 700 USD. Norwegian police are in general friendly and helpful, but they are not merciful.

Alcohol in Norway is state-regulated. Alcohol stronger than 4.7% can only be sold at the state-run Vinmonopolet, which close at 6 p.m. on weekdays, 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and remain closed on Sundays. Pubs, nightclubs and restaurants can serve beer, wine and liquor until 3 o’clock at night, even on Sundays.

TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

Use of vehicle headlights is mandatory when driving, even in bright sunlight.

Norwegian law requires drivers to yield to vehicles coming from the right, unless you are driving on a priority road (which is marked by a yellow diamond sign).

The speed limits are 110 km/h on motorways, 80 km/h on country roads, and 50 km/h in densely populated areas. Just follow the speed signs! 80 km/h equals 50miles/h.

Norwegian traffic signs are different from US, but equal with signs in most other European countries.

Tires must have a minimum of 1.6 millimeters tread.

It is mandatory to have a visibility vest available when riding (or driving), so that you can put it on in case of a traffic accident.

DO I NEED AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE?

You can ride in Norway with your valid US driving license. An international driving license is not necessary.

CAN I BRING MY OWN BIKE TO NORWAY?

You can ride your US registered bike in Norway. Bring your registration paper and make sure your insurance covers riding in Europe, and you are good to go!

IS IT REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET IN NORWAY?

Yes, it is. You must always wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle!

HOW IS IT WITH LOUD PIPES?

Just as in other places, there is a limit for loud pipes.

WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT DRINKING AND RIDING?

The alcohol limit in Norway is 0.2 ‰. So, don’t drink and ride! Also, you can be punished for lending your motorcycle to someone who rides it under the influence of alcohol.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE MY DRUGS AND SMOKE ACCESSORIES

No! All types of drugs are strictly prohibited in Norway. You should be aware that the Norwegian police take this very seriously!

WHAT ABOUT GUNS AND KNIVES?

It is illegal to carry guns, knives or any other weapons. The same applies to any other objects with the appearance of a weapon. If the police find any, the consequences can be very serious.

IS WILD CAMPING ALLOWED IN NORWAY?

Yes, you can pitch a tent wherever you want in Norwegian nature, unless anything else is stated at a specific area. Norwegians do our best to maintain the right of using the outdoors freely. So, make sure that you leave no traces behind and don't do any damage to nature.

Covid-19

A Lot will happen the next year so dont be afraid to book your tickets today. You'll have a full refund if the situation demands a travel ban

If you bring your own MC to Norway, you would have to arrange the logistics.

But there's always an opportunity to ask brother for a short road trip.

Nice to know!

Good questions and answers will be posted here

Please be aware that the voltage in Norway is 220V. Please ensure that your electric/electronic devices are able to handle that voltage. Most electronic devices, such as cell phones, computers and digital cameras are able to handle 220V and all you will need is an “adapter” plug to fit into Norwegian outlets. Some electric devices such as Hairdryers and curling irons, for your OL, will have to specifically state that they are dual voltage or specifically designed for 220V. If they do not and you plug them into our outlets with just an adapter plug they will burn out within seconds.

If you have any additional questions, please post them on our “Norway 2022” Facebook page and one of our Norwegian brothers will provide you with an answer.
